The
Arts Access Drama Program is comprised of three key components:
Playwriting
Participants create drama out of a combination of personal experiences
and imagination. Developed works have been selected for performance,
as a matter of fact, two short plays are being staged for Full
Circle 2002. Some works by past playwrights have been staged
in various venues such as theatre and film. Both able-bodied and
disabled actors have performed these works.
Explorations:
Participants have the opportunity to explore the world of acting
from a variety of perspectives. They are exposed to theatre, lectures
and films, and participate in conversations and discussions with
professionals in the dramatic arts. Topics include acting, actors,
plays, playwrights, and drama history.
Improvisation/Scene Study:
Participants are involved in basic theater games that illustrate
acting techniques. The class leads the structured improvisation
scenes with no script, but predetermined plot. They also work on
character development connected with these scenes.
