Visual Odyssey is an exciting technology-based program that explores
the medium
of videography, photography, or computer generated art. Through
this program the artist is able to capture images from life
and transform them to his or her vision.
The Visual Odyssey uses a video camera system that uses a transmitter
to relay images from the camera to a computer screen. This process
requires a facilitator and a cameraman to assist the artist.
The artist tells the facilitator which way
to move the image and if he wants to
zoom in or out. The facilitator relays this information to the cameraman
via walkie-talkie so he can achieve the artist's
request.
When the artist sees an image he wants, the facilitator will capture
and save it. The artist can then shuffle through his images and
choose which one he wishes to transform into digital art.
This
program provides the artist with the ability to observe a vast potential
of subjects that they would not normally have access to, due to
their disability. By equipping a van with the Visual Odyssey equipment,
the possibilities for the artists will increase vastly. They will
be able to use this medium to explore subjects of interest including
architecture, animals, nature, human life, events, and various happenings.
The artists will now have the possibility of traveling anywhere
to find their artistic visions.
