Art Programs

Sculpture

The Arts Access Sculpture Program offers the participant artists the opportunity to express themselves in a 3-dimensional medium. Through the facilitation process, the artist communicates his or her specific creative directions to the facilitator. The artists use materials such as foam core, cardboard and styrofoam in the design and construction of their art. Some participants have chosen to experiment with unique items such as colored glass, wood, and even kitchen utensils.

When the sculpture is completed, the artists can choose to paint their sculpture if they desire. The artists mix their own colors, quantities, textures, and consistencies in the same fashion as the painting process.

Some of the completed works are put on display in the studio and gallery. Others have been selected to be transformed into larger sizes and other materials that are more durable and archival such as steel, stone or wood.
